You can tweak the display of the lyrics in every way imaginable and the app uses very little system resources. If you are looking for a lightweight iTunes companion to display lyrics for the tracks you're listening to, you can't go wrong with DesktopLyrics. Also it's very clear that a ton of new features have been added to DesktopLyrics since version 2 - every customizability option under the sun is present by now and the app is much more polished. First of all, I think it's important to support the apps you love and use a lot to ensure future development.

I started using DesktopLyrics way back when it was still free and I am glad that the developer made the jump to the Mac Appstore. For a specific version, try search 'lyrics It's a wonderful world louis armstrong'. Just do a search such as 'lyrics It's a wonderful world', and choose from any of the number of sites that has the lyrics. One comment on finding lyrics (on a Mac anyway).

This feature may be present, but I might not have figured out how to do it, without much editing. If I could suggest one feature, it would be to be able to have a tool that says something like "Display all lyrics on one page". I depend entirely on DesktopLyrics for my shows, and would be lost without it.
Therefore I do spend a lot of time shaping my lyrics pages, with different size fonts and the tools allow me to do so.
Although the auto page turning works well, I do not have the confidence to use it and prefer to have all the lyrics on one page. I read the lyrics while I sing, unless I have memorized them. I display iTunes smart playlist on one side with DesktopLyrics on the other.
I perform shows singing with accompaniment on my MacBook. I have been using DesktopLyrics from day 1 and can certainly recommend it. Overall, DesktopLyrics is so valuable, so much fun and such a great enhancement, that you’ll be sorry you didn’t discover it long ago! In fact DesktopLyrics brings back the focus on album covers and artwork, that was sadly lost when Apple somewhat shockingly retired their much loved "cover flow” feature to display album artwork. But you also have a lot of control over how you present the album covers on your screen. Songs have a new found joy, directness and vitality when their words leap out at you on your screen, and when you have numerous controls to tweak the way they appear.
What it does so simply and effectively is of such value that you'd think that iTunes would have long ago made this applcation an integral part of its software. He continually adds valuable functions and enhancements to an already wonderful and very modestly priced application. The developer has proven himself to be very responsive to suggestions and requests for help. Being able to read the lyrics as the song plays adds a whole new dimension to your musical experience! You can understand lyrics that you could never hear clearly before or even hear at all.
